Three Arrested for Spreading False Divorce News on Elumelu

Three individuals, Kingslei Akunemeih, Chigozi Ihebom, and John Nwanoru, have been arrested for allegedly creating and disseminating false information regarding the divorce of Tony Elumelu, the chairman of UBA Group. The bank's group head of brand and corporate communications, Alero Ladipo, issued a statement clarifying that the claims circulating on social media are entirely false and lack any factual basis.

The statement described the allegations as reckless and malicious, aimed at damaging the reputation of both the bank and its chairman. UBA Group confirmed that security agencies were notified, leading to the arrests, and the matter has been referred to relevant law enforcement authorities for further action.

The bank warned individuals and platforms involved in spreading this false information to cease immediately, as continued dissemination could attract civil and criminal actions. UBA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the reputation and privacy of its chairman and indicated that legal remedies would be pursued against those responsible.
