Edo Police Arrest Three Suspects in Connection with Kidnapping of Doctor and Brother

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended three suspects linked to the kidnapping of Dr. Abu Babatunde and the subsequent death of his younger brother.

The arrests were part of a sustained intelligence-led operation aimed at dismantling criminal networks responsible for abductions in the Auchi area of Edo State. The breakthrough occurred on February 3, 2026, when operatives, in collaboration with local hunters and vigilante groups, intercepted a suspect named Saminu Kawuji in the Warak forest.

This led to the recovery of knives, mobile phones, an ATM card, and cash. Further arrests were made on Sunday, with Idri Abubakar and Sani Abubakar apprehended at a specialist hospital in Auchi.

The suspects are believed to be members of the gang responsible for the abduction of Dr. Babatunde in January 2026.

Efforts are underway to intensify investigations and bring all perpetrators to justice.
