Three Arrested for Selling Stolen Mosquito Nets in Osun

On June 9, 2026, the Osun State Police Command arraigned three suspects—Rabbi Bennett, Opeyemi Ajibola, and Aminu Ibrahim—accused of stealing and selling 300 insecticide-treated mosquito nets meant for free distribution to the public. The nets were part of a government health intervention program.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Rabbi Bennett, a staff member of the USAID unit in Delta State, was involved in a dispute with Opeyemi Ajibola, an okada rider from Ayetoro Street, Ipetumodu, regarding the illegal sale of the nets. On June 8, 2026, Aminu Ibrahim allegedly sold six bundles containing the 300 mosquito nets.

Following the incident, the suspects were arrested and taken into custody, where they reportedly confessed to their involvement in the alleged offense. They have been remanded in custody pending further judicial proceedings, with the police reiterating their commitment to safeguarding public resources.
