Wale Ahmed Defends Tinubu's Governance During Abroad Stay

Wale Ahmed, the lawmaker representing Agege Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, defended President Bola Tinubu’s extended stay abroad, stating that he is entitled to his annual leave. Ahmed emphasized that the President's absence should not be seen as an abandonment of his constitutional duties.

He noted that Tinubu's time in France included official engagements aimed at attracting investment and enhancing Nigeria's international economic relations. Ahmed stated that presidential responsibilities can continue even when the President is outside the country, as he can receive briefings and issue directives remotely.

He also supported Tinubu’s decision to send Vice-President Kashim Shettima to the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, asserting that Shettima is constitutionally positioned to assist in executive responsibilities. Furthermore, Ahmed mentioned Tinubu's directive for an independent investigation into the deaths of 37 individuals detained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Niger State, reinforcing that the President remains engaged in governance.
