APC Seeks Resolution Between Wike and Governors Ahead of Elections

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is taking steps to address a growing disagreement between Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and APC governors regarding the Rainbow Coalition. This conflict arises over whether opposition politicians supporting President Bola Tinubu should also endorse APC candidates in the upcoming governorship, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly elections.

The Progressive Governors’ Forum, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, insists that APC governors will campaign for both Tinubu and APC candidates. In contrast, Wike has stated his support is solely for Tinubu, not extending to other APC candidates.

An APC National Working Committee member expressed concerns that coalition supporters might vote for non-APC candidates in legislative elections, undermining the party. The member called for political consultations to resolve the issue rather than public disputes, emphasizing the need for strategic networking.

The disagreement became public after the Progressive Governors’ Forum rejected any arrangement that could weaken the APC or its candidates.
