Tinubu Appoints Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart as Adviser

President Bola Tinubu appointed Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart as Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, specifically for the House of Representatives, effective immediately. Olanrewaju-Smart succeeds Ibrahim Olanrewaju, who resigned to pursue an elective position in his home state.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced the appointment. Olanrewaju-Smart, 40, possesses significant legislative experience and academic credentials, including a doctorate in Educational Management from Lead City University, a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University, and a professional diploma in Public Relations from the London School of Public Relations.

His career in the National Assembly includes roles as Research and Media Assistant to the Minority/Majority Leader and Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives. He joined the Presidency in October 2023 as Senior Special Assistant on Intergovernmental Affairs before this new role.

The Presidency expressed confidence in Olanrewaju-Smart's ability to enhance legislative coordination between the Presidency and the House of Representatives.
