Tinubu and Military Leaders Honor General Muhammed

On Friday, a wreath-laying ceremony was held in Abuja to honor General Murtala Muhammed, the former Head of State of Nigeria, on the 50th anniversary of his assassination. The event was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation Georg Akum, and Chief of Army Staff Major General Waidi Shaibu, among other dignitaries.

Major General Isah Mahadi Abdullahi hosted the ceremony, which brought together senior government officials, diplomats, and military leadership. During the event, a moment of silence was observed, and remarks were delivered on behalf of the Muhammed family by Risqua Muhammed, who described his father as an unwavering patriot.

He emphasized that the impact of General Muhammed's leadership is not measured by the length of his time in office, which was just 200 days, but by the lasting legacy he left behind. Major General Evaristu Okoro also paid tribute, highlighting the General's commitment to discipline and accountability in public service.
