Tinubu, Bago, Info Minister Honour Babangida at 85

Senior government officials have marked the 85th birthday of retired General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida with public tributes to his military career and decades-long influence on Nigeria's political trajectory. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu extended formal congratulations through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, characterising the former leader as an outstanding military figure whose eight-year period in power left lasting imprints on Nigeria's political and economic structures.

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago joined the chorus of recognition during celebrations held in Minna, Babangida's home state. Bago described the retired general as a living figure of wisdom and a significant resource to the nation, while accrediting him with meaningful contributions to national development and demonstrating leadership qualities worthy of note.

The Information Minister, through a separate statement, positioned Babangida as an elder statesman whose place in Nigeria's modern political record is firmly established.
