Tinubu Canvases Two Seats For Africa At UN Security Council

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, during the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Yokohama, Japan, called for reform within the United Nations. He specifically advocated for Africa to have two seats on the UN Security Council, stating that the continent deserves fair and equitable representation.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of giving African countries a greater voice in global decision-making processes, including the right to veto. He referenced the Ezulwini Consensus and Sirte Declaration as frameworks supporting Africa's demand for additional seats on the Security Council.

Tinubu urged the Japanese government to support this campaign for reform within the UN, highlighting the need for Africa to have a stronger presence in the international arena.
