Tinubu Celebrates Senator Orji Kalu's 66th Birthday

President Bola Tinubu extended his best wishes to Senator Orji Kalu, who turned 66 on April 21, 2023. Tinubu's statement, conveyed by his special adviser Bayo Onanuga, highlighted Kalu as a longstanding political ally whose vision and resilience have significantly impacted Abia State and the nation.

Kalu, who served as the governor of Abia State from May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007, is currently the senator representing Abia North and chairs the Senate Committee on South East Development. His contributions to national development were noted, particularly during his two terms as governor and his ongoing commitment to progress in the region.

Kalu's political career faced challenges, including a conviction in December 2019 for fraud, which was quashed by the Supreme Court in May 2020, allowing him to resume his political activities. He assumed office in the 9th Senate on June 11, 2019, and currently serves as the Senate Majority Whip.
