Tinubu Celebrates Tony Elumelu's Vision for Africapitalism

On March 22, President Bola Tinubu celebrated the birthday of renowned economist, banker, and philanthropist Tony Elumelu. In a statement released on Saturday, signed by his special adviser Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Elumelu as an African business icon and a standout advocate for Nigerian and African enterprises.

Elumelu is the chairman of Heir Holdings, founder of the United Bank for Africa, and Transcorp. Tinubu commended Elumelu's resilience and excellence in business, highlighting his strong belief in Africapitalism.

The President specifically praised Elumelu's commitment to youth development, noting the impact of the Tony Elumelu Foundation's entrepreneurship program, which has trained 2.5 million young Africans across 54 countries and empowered 24,000 budding African entrepreneurs with non-refundable seed capital of $5,000. Tinubu joined Elumelu's family and associates in wishing him good health, strength, and continued success in his pursuits.
