Tinubu Directs New Ambassadors to Revamp Foreign Policy

On a recent occasion, President Bola Tinubu charged Nigeria's newly appointed ambassadors to reorder the country's foreign policy priorities during an induction course organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja. He introduced a framework known as the 4D doctrine, which emphasizes democracy, development, demographics, and the diaspora.

Tinubu urged the ambassadors to adopt a modern, results-oriented approach to diplomacy, combining traditional methods with digital engagement to effectively promote Nigeria's interests abroad. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, underscored the importance of protecting Nigerians living abroad and ensuring efficient consular services.

She also warned against misconduct among diplomats, stressing the need for discipline and accountability. The President highlighted the evolving global landscape and the necessity for Nigerian diplomats to adapt to these changes while focusing on maximizing benefits for Nigerian citizens through international engagement.
