Tinubu Urges New Military Officers to Uphold Constitution

On Saturday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed newly commissioned officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces at the combined Passing Out Parade of cadets from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, represented by Dr Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives. He charged the officers to uphold the Constitution, safeguard the nation's economy, and protect citizens from security threats.

Tinubu highlighted the current challenges posed by adversaries seeking to undermine Nigeria's values through violence and propaganda. He commended the NDA for adapting its training to contemporary security challenges, including enhanced counter-terrorism training and technological integration.

The President noted that Nigeria's security issues cannot be resolved through military means alone, citing poverty, unemployment, and social disintegration as underlying causes. He stated that his administration is addressing these issues through the Renewed Hope Agenda, which combines security efforts with job creation and human capital development.

Tinubu also reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to regional security cooperation through ECOWAS.
