Tinubu's Commitment to Social Protection System in Nigeria

On Wednesday, in Kano, Vice President Kashim Shettima stated that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to creating a scalable social protection system that will deliver measurable results for vulnerable citizens across Nigeria. This declaration was made during a police dialogue organized by the North West Governors Forum in collaboration with the European Union and UNICEF.

The forum's theme focused on setting a political agenda to reduce multidimensional poverty through innovative financing for social protection. Shettima, representing the Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau, stressed the importance of a credible and sustainable social protection framework that requires data-driven planning and adequate funding.

He highlighted the need for strong collaboration among government levels and community structures to ensure no one is left behind. Shettima also pointed out that poverty should not be defined merely by the absence of income, emphasizing the critical role of education and health services in breaking the cycle of poverty.
