Shettima Praises Nigeria's Digital Transformation Under Tinubu

Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima commended the ongoing digital transformation of Nigeria's identity ecosystem under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, calling it unrivaled. This transformation is attributed to reforms by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), particularly the enactment of the NIMC Act 2026.

During a courtesy visit from NIMC's delegation led by Director General Engr. Abisoye Odusote at the Presidential Villa, Shettima noted that this reorganization aims to establish a sovereign Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for Nigeria, transitioning from paper-based administration to secure digital governance.

He praised Engr. Odusote's leadership in transforming NIMC into Nigeria's foundational digital authority.

Odusote congratulated President Tinubu for signing the NIMC Bill into law, which facilitates communication among government databases and improves citizen interactions. The NIN is now the single source of truth for Nigerian identity, with various sectors integrating into the new national digital public infrastructure.
