Tinubu Condoles El-Rufai on Mother's Passing in Cairo

President Bola Tinubu conveyed his condolences to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai over the passing of his mother, Hajiya Umma, who died on Friday in Cairo, Egypt. In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Hajiya Umma as a matriarch who significantly contributed to Nigeria through her role in raising her children and grandchildren.

He expressed empathy for El-Rufai's loss, recalling his own experience of losing his mother at an old age, which allowed him to understand the depth of grief. Tinubu urged El-Rufai to accept his heartfelt condolences and emphasized the pain of losing a mother, noting that no words could fully ease such sorrow.

He prayed for the deceased, asking Allah to grant her Aljannah Firdau, the highest level of paradise in Islamic belief. El-Rufai served as the Governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023 and previously held the position of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory from 2003 to 2007 under President Olusegun Obasanjo.
