Tinubu Honors Ex-INEC Chair Yakubu with National Honour

President Bola Tinubu has conferred a national honor, the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), on Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This recognition acknowledges Yakubu's service to Nigeria and his role in strengthening the nation's democracy during his tenure at INEC.

Tinubu formally accepted Yakubu's exit from office after completing his second term as the head of the electoral body. The President commended Yakubu for his dedication to ensuring credible elections and sustaining democracy in Nigeria, particularly through the organization of free and fair elections throughout his leadership.

Tinubu also directed a senior National Commissioner at INEC to act pending the appointment of a substantive chairman.
