Tinubu Confirms Killing of ISIS Leader in Joint Operation

On a Saturday announcement, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu confirmed the killing of Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, a senior leader of the Islamic State, during a joint military operation conducted by Nigerian troops and the United States Armed Forces in the Lake Chad Basin. Tinubu described the operation as a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism and a strong example of the growing security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States.

The operation resulted in the elimination of Al-Manuki and several of his top lieutenants, significantly impacting the Islamic State's network in the region. Tinubu expressed gratitude for the partnership with the U.S. and commended the professionalism and courage of the military personnel involved.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump also confirmed the operation, noting that it was executed flawlessly and marked a critical step in dismantling terrorist networks in West Africa.
