Tinubu Dissolves Federal Property Privatisation Committee

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu approved the immediate dissolution of the Presidential Implementation Committee on the Alienation of Federal Government Properties, a body established in 2000 under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The committee's functions have been transferred to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.

This decision, announced by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, takes effect from November 5, 2025. The committee's former Secretary, B.

S. Dutsin-Ma, has been directed to cease all related activities.

The dissolution follows a review that found the committee had extended its activities beyond its original mandate, leading to multiple litigations across Nigeria. The PIC was originally tasked with overseeing the privatisation and sale of Federal Government properties as part of a monetisation policy aimed at converting government assets into cash.

Its existence was deemed no longer justified due to the controversies and disputes arising from its operations.
