Gowon Endorses Tinubu's Leadership Amid Security Challenges

On Saturday, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon visited the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he endorsed President Bola Tinubu's performance, asserting that Tinubu is doing his best for Nigerians across all sectors of governance. Gowon, who led Nigeria from 1966 to 1975, stated that there is no specific area requiring improvement under Tinubu's leadership, emphasizing that the president is addressing major issues, particularly in security.

When asked about specific areas for improvement, Gowon reiterated that he sees no particular place needing attention, highlighting the importance of national interest. He expressed optimism regarding Nigeria's future and assured that the government is capable of handling current challenges, including security threats.

Gowon acknowledged the progress made under Tinubu's administration, particularly in economic recovery and foreign reserves, despite criticisms regarding rising insecurity and inflation since the removal of petrol subsidies in June 2023.
