Tinubu Supports Airbus' Maintenance Facility in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu welcomed Airbus' proposal to establish maintenance hangar facilities in Nigeria as part of a broader effort to position the country as a regional aerospace and aviation services hub. In a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu highlighted Nigeria's urgent need for modern helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft capabilities to support security operations and logistics.

During a recent meeting with an Airbus delegation led by Thierry Cloutet, the head of business growth for Africa and the Middle East, Tinubu expressed the administration's determination to leverage the company's advantages in military aircraft and aerospace development. He called for the acceleration of the delivery of three Apache helicopters already ordered by Nigeria to bolster ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

The discussions also included the acquisition of Airbus C-295 platforms and a broader defense aviation cooperation model, which aims to improve financial access for domestic operations and strengthen the existing relationship between Nigeria and Airbus.
