Tinubu Strengthens Nigeria-UK Aviation Relations

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to strengthening economic relations with the United Kingdom, particularly in the aviation sector, during a meeting with a delegation from British Airways led by British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery.

Tinubu emphasized the historical relationship between Nigeria and the UK, celebrating 90 years of partnership. He recalled his recent visit to the UK and his meeting with King Charles III, expressing a desire to sustain bilateral cooperation.

Tinubu noted ongoing reforms in Nigeria's aviation sector aimed at meeting global standards and enhancing international partnerships. He acknowledged British Airways' role in strengthening economic and social links between the two countries.

Colm Laci, the airline's commercial officer, highlighted the importance of the Nigerian market and the airline's long-standing service since 1936. The meeting also addressed resolving financial issues affecting the airline, with hopes of improving operational environments for foreign airlines in Nigeria.
