Atiku Accuses Tinubu of Influencing NBA Elections

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration of attempting to influence the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) elections. In a statement issued on Thursday by Atiku's media office, he alleged that the government is trying to impose preferred candidates in the NBA elections, which he claims is indicative of state-sponsored toxic politics.

Atiku expressed concern that these actions are part of a larger plan to weaken opposition parties and manipulate future elections. He warned that such interference threatens Nigeria's democracy and highlighted frustrations from U.S. security agencies regarding the electoral process.

Atiku's allegations follow reports linking the Attorney General of the Federation to suggestions of postponing the NBA elections and dissolving the electoral committee. The NBA has rejected these reports and recommended maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.
