Atiku's Camp Accuses Tinubu of NBA Election Interference

Atiku Abubakar's camp has accused President Bola Tinubu of attempting to interfere in the ongoing Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) elections, alleging that this move is a rehearsal for manipulating the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. A statement issued by Atiku's media office on Thursday described Tinubu's administration as state-sponsored toxic politics aimed at weakening opposition parties and undermining democratic institutions.

The statement claims that the administration is creating conditions for electoral manipulation, asserting that the conduct of the NBA elections is the sole responsibility of the Electoral Committee of the NBA. Furthermore, it alleges that government officials are pressuring members of the legal profession to accept preferred candidates and that there have been attempts to disqualify two prospective candidates.

Despite unsuccessful efforts to postpone the elections, the statement claims that security agencies have been deployed to frustrate the electoral process, indicating a broader strategy by the Tinubu-led APC government to rig the upcoming elections.
