Kalu Defends Tinubu Against Defection Claims in APC

Orji Kalu, the former governor of Abia State, addressed the media on Tuesday, dismissing claims that President Bola Tinubu has ever coerced politicians to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Kalu stated that such allegations are unfounded and primarily driven by the opposition, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as frivolous and damaging to Nigeria's democratic process.

He also defended Tinubu against accusations of marginalizing the South East during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, asserting that Tinubu has significantly contributed to the nation's development, including that of the South East region. Kalu's comments come ahead of the 2027 elections, as he urged political actors to strengthen democratic institutions and offer credible policy alternatives rather than engage in unproductive criticism.
