Tinubu Strengthens UK-Nigeria Ties at BA 90th Celebration

On Wednesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with a delegation from British Airways, led by British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, and Commercial Officer, Mr.

Colm Lacy, to celebrate the airline's 90 years of service in Nigeria. Tinubu emphasized Nigeria's commitment to deepening economic relations with the United Kingdom, particularly in the aviation sector, for mutual benefit.

He highlighted the strategic importance of the relationship, recalling his recent visit to the UK and the warm reception from King Charles III. Tinubu acknowledged the critical role British Airways plays in fostering economic connections between Nigeria and the UK, noting ongoing reforms in Nigeria's aviation industry aimed at meeting global standards.

He expressed appreciation for British investments in Nigeria and mentioned efforts to resolve outstanding liabilities affecting the airline's operations. Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, assured that Nigerian airports are committed to enhancing safety and credibility in aviation.

Montgomery expressed delight in the long-standing relationship between British Airways and Nigeria.
