Tinubu Advocates Global Support for Youth Skills Acquisition

President Bola Tinubu is actively seeking global support for a skills acquisition initiative targeting millions of Nigerian youths. During the National Skills Industry Roundtable held in Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima highlighted the importance of coordinated investment in skills to drive economic growth.

Shettima called for clarity and collaboration among relevant stakeholders, stressing that Nigeria faces a critical moment in its history, with millions entering the labor market annually. He noted that while Nigeria has a significant youth population, there is a disconnect between available jobs and the skills graduates possess.

Shettima affirmed that the Tinubu administration is committed to addressing these challenges by moving away from fragmented programs and towards a coherent national system focused on skills-led job creation. The roundtable aimed to engage policymakers, industry leaders, and development partners to build trust and drive practical solutions for job creation, emphasizing the private sector's role in articulating skill requirements and shaping development partnerships.
