Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment To Medicine, Vaccine Safety As NAFDAC Retains WHO ML3 Certification

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration's commitment to ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines and vaccines in Nigeria. This comes as the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) retained its World Health Organisation Maturity Level 3 certification after a successful assessment in May 2025.

NAFDAC first achieved this status in 2022, making it the first national regulatory authority in Africa to do so. Tinubu praised NAFDAC's sustained performance as evidence of a stable regulatory system and credited government investment in strengthening the agency.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to improve healthcare in Nigeria, including upgrading primary health centers, expanding health insurance coverage, and boosting local production of healthcare products. Tinubu pledged continued collaboration with credible partners to promote the pharmaceutical sector and support NAFDAC's drive to attain Maturity Level 4, the highest global standard of regulatory excellence.
