Tinubu Rejects Terrorists' Demands, Mourns General Abubakar

President Bola Tinubu firmly rejected the demands of terrorists for the release of their detained members, asserting that the government would not yield to pressure. This statement came in the wake of the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was abducted by bandits in Katsina State.

The Katsina State Government confirmed that Major General Abubakar, who had served in various military capacities, including as a spokesperson for the Armed Forces, died while in captivity due to complications from diabetes and hypertension. Tinubu expressed condolences to Abubakar's family and emphasized the need for a united front against terrorism.

He stated that the Nigerian Armed Forces would not relent in their efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of citizens. The state government described the incident as a tragic loss and highlighted the urgent need for stronger coordination in addressing insecurity.

Efforts to secure Abubakar's release were reportedly unsuccessful.
