Bola Tinubu Seeks National Assembly Approval to Extend 2025 Budget Implementation

Former Lagos State Governor and political leader Bola Tinubu has formally requested the National Assembly to extend the implementation period of the 2025 budget until March 31, 2026. This move aims to reform Nigeria's public account system by ending the practice of running multiple budgets simultaneously.

The request, made during a special plenary session, seeks to ensure that ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) can achieve a minimum of 30% capital allocation release. The proposal includes repealing and re-enacting bills to adjust the fiscal year's budget downward, prioritizing execution capacity.
