Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation for NERC Chairman Appointment

President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to confirm the appointment of Abdullahi Ramat as the chairman and chief executive officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). Tinubu nominated Ramat, a seasoned electrical engineer and administrator, for the top role at NERC.

Ramat, who holds a PhD in Strategic Management, is expected to bring a wealth of experience to the power sector and prevent any leadership vacuum at the critical regulatory agency. The President directed Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity pending Senate confirmation.

The Senate, which resumed plenary on October 7 after an extended break, will consider Tinubu's nomination of Ramat alongside other nominees for key positions at NERC.
