Tinubu and Sultan Discuss National Unity at Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu met with the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar III, in a closed-door session at Aso Rock, Abuja. This meeting occurred after an interfaith iftar dinner held on March 9, which marked the end of a month-long fast and brought together Muslim and Christian leaders from six geopolitical zones.

During the iftar, President Tinubu emphasized Nigeria's commitment to combating terrorism and fostering unity among its citizens. The Sultan was represented by Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, as he was absent from the dinner.

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, led by the Sultan, maintains close consultations with the President on national issues. The event also included various political leaders, such as governors and members of the Senate.
