SDP Campaign Accuses Tinubu of Constitutional Breach

The Adewole Adebayo/Bugaje Presidential Campaign Council of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of breaching the 1999 Constitution by staying outside Nigeria beyond the constitutionally allowed period. In a statement from Comrade Mark Adebayo, the Chief Communications and Media Adviser, the campaign described Tinubu's absence as a “slap on the faces of over 200 million Nigerians.” They alleged that his failure to formally transmit power after exceeding 21 days abroad created a “dangerous constitutional vacuum,” violating Section 145(1) of the Constitution.

The campaign criticized the National Assembly for not invoking Section 145(2), which would allow the Vice-President to act in the President's absence, labeling the legislature as complicit in executive lawlessness. They called on Nigerians to express their frustration through political action in the 2027 elections, supporting Prince Adewole Adebayo as an alternative candidate committed to constitutional fidelity and accountability.
