Tinubu's Sports Vision Sparks NIS Reform, Says Shaibu

Philip Shaibu, the current CEO of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's renewed focus on sports development during a presentation in Abuja. He highlighted Tinubu's commitment to using sports as a strategic tool for youth empowerment and economic diversification.

Shaibu noted that the President's interest in sports extends beyond mere rhetoric, emphasizing the need for improved funding and strategic planning. He shared his vision for a comprehensive 10-year development plan aimed at restoring the NIS's relevance in the sports business sector.

Shaibu, who previously served as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, recounted his efforts to revitalize local sports infrastructure, including the transformation of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and the development of mini stadia across the state. He acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerian sports administration but expressed determination to implement reforms aligned with the President's vision for sports in Nigeria.
