Tinubu's UK Visit Key to Nigeria-UK Relations Reset

Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, emphasized the strategic importance of President Bola Tinubu's state visit to the United Kingdom on March 18-19. This visit aimed to reset Nigeria-UK relations, focusing on economic, trade, and security cooperation.

Accompanied by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, President Tinubu engaged in high-level meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Downing Street. Ojukwu highlighted that the visit was marked by a display of hospitality from the British royal family at Windsor Castle.

Key outcomes included discussions on a $746 million port partnership and strengthening cooperation in trade, security, and technology. The visit also aimed to enhance joint efforts against terrorism and regional instability, with a focus on improving border management and fostering a modern economic alliance between Nigeria and the UK.
