Togo Seeks Increased Electricity Imports from Nigeria

Togo has expressed interest in increasing its electricity imports from Nigeria, currently set at 75 megawatt hours through a bilateral power supply arrangement with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC). This initiative follows discussions between NDPHC's Managing Director, Jennifer Adighij, and a delegation from Togo's national electricity utility, led by D.

The aim is to enhance the existing power supply cooperation to address the surge in electricity demand in Togo, particularly from the industrial and commercial sectors. Adighij emphasized that the partnership would improve reliability within Togo's national grid and support the expansion of power access.

NDPHC is prepared to deepen cooperation to sustain electricity exports to neighboring countries in West Africa. However, expanding electricity exports requires sustainable commercial arrangements and reliable payment frameworks to protect NDPHC's interests and ensure continued support for regional energy stability.
