Togo has overtaken South Africa as Nigeria's top African trading partner in Q2 2025, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report. The trade data shows Togo's significant rise in both exports and imports with Nigeria, highlighting its growing importance as a trade hub in the region.

In Q1 2025, Togo was ranked fourth among Nigeria's African export destinations, but in Q2, it surged to the top position with exports worth billions of dollars. On the import side, Togo also dominated by supplying goods worth billions to Nigeria.

This shift signifies Nigeria's increasing reliance on Togo's logistics capacity, particularly the port of Lomé, as a key transshipment hub in West Africa.
