Badge of White House Border Czar Found in Used Car

A badge belonging to Tom Homan, who served as the White House border czar during Donald Trump's administration, was discovered in a used Cadillac purchased in 2023. The badge was issued in 2020 by the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office when Scott Jenkin was the sheriff.

Tim Chilton, the current sheriff, confirmed that the badge was found in a hidden compartment of the vehicle. The badge allowed Homan to perform law enforcement duties, including making arrests and conducting traffic stops.

Jenkin, who issued the badge, was later convicted of federal bribery in 2024 and received a pardon from Trump. Homan's name was not mentioned in the bribery case, and he was not aware of any allegations against Jenkin.

The investigation into the bribery allegations did not result in charges against Homan. The current sheriff, Chilton, is reviewing the practice of issuing badges to individuals outside the department.
