Tony Elumelu Foundation Selects 3,200 Entrepreneurs for 2026

The Tony Elumelu Foundation has announced the selection of 3,200 young African entrepreneurs for its 2026 entrepreneurship program, marking a significant milestone in its twelve-year journey. Somachi Chris-Asoluka, the Foundation's Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the program's focus on gender and geographic diversity among beneficiaries.

The 2026 cohort will emphasize integrating artificial intelligence and climate resilience into small business operations to meet global market demands. The Foundation aims to ensure no African entrepreneur is left behind, providing a holistic support system that includes non-returnable seed grants, mentorship, and access to a robust alumni network.

The program will manage four distinct groups and collaborate with global partners, including the Dutch government and UNDP. Chris-Asoluka noted the Foundation's impressive 75% survival rate for funded startups over five years, contrasting with the global average failure rate.

The official unveiling of the program is set for March 22, 2026, focusing on sectors with high growth potential, including agriculture and green economy initiatives.
