Rare Photos Capture Tony Elumelu's Final Days at UBA

Tobi James, the personal photographer of Nigerian billionaire Tony Elumelu, released a rare photo series titled "The Last Dance," showcasing Elumelu's final days as Group Chairman of UBA. The photographs were shared on August 26, 2026, five days after Elumelu officially stepped down from his position on August 21, 2026, following a 12-year tenure that met the maximum limit for non-executive bank directors.

Emmanuel Nnorom succeeded him as Group Chairman. The collection includes images from Elumelu's last board meeting, where he received a gift from fellow board members, and captures moments such as his last walk out of the boardroom and a selfie with James.

Elumelu chose not to have a formal send-off, preferring the day to feel like any other at the office. James, who served as Elumelu's personal photographer for seven of those twelve years, reflected on the emotional weight of the moment in his post, which garnered significant online engagement.
