Africa's tourism sector is entering a new growth phase, with 74 million international tourists welcomed in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels and marking a 12% increase from 2023, according to United Nations Tourism data. The continent accounted for approximately 5.3% of global international tourist arrivals, with North Africa leading the recovery while sub-Saharan Africa continues to rebuild its visitor markets.

In the first quarter of 2025, international arrivals to Africa increased by 9%, making it the strongest-performing region in UN Tourism data. This growth is attracting investments from airlines, hotel companies, and tourism operators, with Hilton and Marriott planning to expand their hotel footprints in Africa.
