Air Peace Pilot Under Influence of Alcohol and Cannabis in Boeing 737 Incident - Safety Concerns Raised

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) reported that an Air Peace Boeing 737 pilot operated under the influence of alcohol and cannabis during a serious incident at the Port Harcourt International Airport. The flight, carrying 103 passengers, had an unstabilized final approach.

The preliminary report revealed that the pilot, including the first officer and cabin crew member, tested positive for alcohol and cannabis. This incident raised significant safety concerns, leading to a directive for an urgent review of crew fitness protocols.

The toxicological screening results highlighted the consumption of alcohol and THC, a psychoactive compound in cannabis. Aviation experts expressed grave concerns over the compromised safety standards in the incident.
