Nigerian House of Representatives Committee Working Towards Constitutional Review by 2025

The Nigerian House of Representatives Committee on Constitutional Review, led by Abba Tajudeen and Benjamin Okezi Kalu, is actively engaging in a comprehensive review of the constitution to reflect the aspirations of the Nigerian people. The committee has set a deadline for its work by December 2025 and has already received over 300 proposals for consideration.

Various topics such as local government autonomy, judiciary, electoral matters, state police, gender issues, and human rights are being discussed to enhance the constitution and strengthen democratic practices in the country. The committee is taking a people-oriented approach and ensuring inclusivity in the review process through stakeholder engagements and expert consultations.
