Former West Brom Player Quevin Castro Dies at 25

Quevin Castro, a former midfielder for West Bromwich Albion, tragically passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 25 after collapsing during a pre-season friendly match in Lisbon, Portugal. The incident occurred in the 10th minute while he was playing for Real Sport Clube against Estrela da Amadora at the Estadio das Seixas.

A doctor from Estrela da Amadora's team rushed to the scene and utilized a defibrillator in an attempt to save Castro, who was later transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The Lisbon Association confirmed his death during the match.

Both Real Sport Clube and Estrela da Amadora expressed their condolences, while West Bromwich Albion stated they were "devastated" by the news. In honor of Castro, West Brom announced they would observe a moment of applause in the 25th minute of their upcoming fixture against Burnley and that players would wear black armbands.

Castro had recently turned 25 on August 16, just days before his death.
