Shark Attack Claims Fourth Victim in Western Australia

On Saturday, a tragic shark attack occurred off the coast of Albany, Western Australia, resulting in the death of a 30-year-old man. The victim was participating in a spearfishing excursion with family members near Michaelma Island when he was attacked by a shark estimated to be 4 to 5 meters long.

The incident took place around 11:25 AM local time, and despite efforts by family members to recover the severely injured diver and transport him back to the mainland for medical assistance, revival attempts on shore were unsuccessful. This incident marks the fourth fatal shark attack in Western Australia for the year 2026, following a similar incident less than a month prior near Rottnest Island.

The increasing frequency of such deadly encounters has prompted authorities to urge the public to exercise extreme caution in the area and remain vigilant for shark sightings.
