Trump Criticizes LeBron James Over Anthem Behavior
US President Donald Trump criticized NBA star LeBron James for his actions during the US national anthem before a Philadelphia 76ers game. In a tweet on Thursday, Trump shared a video of James practicing basketball shots and swinging his arms during the anthem, stating, “While we listen to our National Anthem, LeBron James disrespects our Country.” Trump demanded that James apologize to American soldiers who died for the nation, saying, “LeBron James should apologize to all of those Great American Warriors & Heroes who died for the American Flag, and all that our Country stands for!” The Philadelphia 76ers have not publicly responded to Trump's remarks.
This criticism is part of a broader feud between Trump and prominent American athletes regarding their actions during the national anthem, including past conflicts with NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the Philadelphia Eagles.
