Tuchel Defends Tactics After England's World Cup Loss

Thomas Tuchel, the coach of the England National Team, defended his tactics after England's World Cup semi-final loss to Argentina on Wednesday. England initially took the lead with a goal from Anthony Gordon early in the second half but ultimately lost 2-1, with goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez securing Argentina's victory.

Tuchel noted that his team became passive after taking the lead, which allowed Argentina to apply pressure and create scoring opportunities. He stated in a post-match press conference that he did not believe his tactical decisions were wrong, emphasizing that it was a natural progression of the game.

Tuchel faced scrutiny for substituting Gordon in the 72nd minute and shifting to a defensive formation, which he argued was intended to help the team manage the game. Despite the defeat, Tuchel, who signed a two-year contract extension in February, indicated his commitment to leading England through the 2028 European Championship.
