Nigeria Repatriates Benin Bronzes in Cultural Milestone

Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar handed over two Benin Bronze Artefacts to Nigeria's Ministry of Art, Culture, and Tourism, symbolizing efforts to reclaim cultural heritage looted during the 1897 invasion of the Benin Kingdom. The artifacts were repatriated from the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.

The event, attended by high chiefs representing the Oba of Benin, highlighted the historical significance of returning these cultural objects. The Director-General of the NCMM expressed gratitude for the successful repatriation, acknowledging the long-awaited return as a crucial part of Nigeria's history.
