Fenerbahce's Hakan Safi Wanted Osimhen, Board Disagreed

Hakan Safi, a board member of Fenerbahce, stated that he was prepared to pay any amount necessary to sign Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen. Safi aimed to prevent Osimhen from joining their rival, Galatasaray, in the summer of 2025.

He clarified that the issue was not financial, as he was ready to proceed with the transfer, but the rest of the Fenerbahce board did not agree with his plan. Consequently, Osimhen signed a permanent deal with Galatasaray after spending the previous season on loan with the Istanbul club, where he scored 30 goals in competitive matches.
