ADC Leaders Join APC in Sokoto, Citing Development Goals

Alhaji Sanusi Mai Kyame and Alhaji Umar Salah, two notable members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Mai Kyame, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto North Local Government Area, was welcomed into the APC by the state chairman, Alhaji Haruna Adiya, along with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Alhaji Faruku Labbo, and other APC officials.

Similarly, Salah, a former Director General of the ADC, was received by Alhaji Umaru Nagwari Tambuwal, the Chairman of the Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board, with support from Prof. Ahmed Ladan Ala, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education. Their defections followed meetings with Governor Ahmed Aliyu at the Government House in Sokoto.

Mai Kyame cited the governor's leadership qualities and respect for human dignity, along with ongoing development projects, as reasons for his switch. Salah echoed similar sentiments, pledging support for the governor ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Both were assured of equal treatment and involvement in party affairs by APC leaders.
